Basis weight valve A381

Basis weight valve A381 for controlling of paper web density on the reel of paper/board machine.

Basis weight valve A381 is designed for the pulp and paper industry. It is aimed to control paper web density on the reel of paper and cardboard machines.

The actuating mechanism is based on a segment valve with a control characteristic close to linear. The valve comes with a reducer gear, a reversible electric drive and an absolute position sensor. The position transmitter is mounted directly on the drive shaft of the control segment, thus eliminating the influence of gear and actuator backlash on the accuracy of the valve positioning.

The control unit performs the functions of indication of current valve position, manual and automatic (under control of operator workstation) opening value setting as well as service and diagnostic functions.

The valve has a specific control element that provides flow characteristics to be close to linear. Also, it allows proportional basis weight control for almost the entire range.

The valve kit consists of two components:  an actuator and a control unit.

The actuator includes the regulating element, gearbox, reversible electric actuator, and absolute encoder mounted directly on the valve shaft.

The key advantage of installing an absolute encoder directly on a drive shaft of regulating segment eliminates the influence of the gearbox and electric actuator backlashes on the positioning accuracy.
